Not only does it have a great moral about working hard for the common good but the dialog lens itself well to repetition of high frequency words that are now being taught in Kindergarten. That was one of my absolute favorites growing up! I feel as though I am gearing myself toward teaching kindergarten next year, so i was very excited to find another book to add to my list. This one, of course, being used to introduce "doing your part," or being a part of a team and reaping the rewards. The story seems to follow the same lesson and style of the original, however there is a modern spin on it. It is like so many movies that come out nowadays... a revival of past favorites...a sure winner!
