Kara,

Thanks!!

We're not actually in Seattle -- our voice message service is. We're in the heart of Ottawa, Canada and the coffee shop we record in is a funky, earthy, fabulous independent coffee shop just a few blocks from our home.

Yes, I love <a rel="nofollow" title="The Little House" target="_blank" href="http://www.amazon.com/Little-House-Virginia-Lee-Burton/dp/0395181569/sr=8-1/qid=1161437012/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-0631715-9005535?ie=UTF8&s=books" rel="nofollow">The Little House</a>. I'm going to pull it out and read it with our girls today!

Your <a rel="nofollow" title="Kid Literati" target="_blank" href="http://www.kidsliterati.squarespace.com/" rel="nofollow">Kid Literati</a> site is gorgeous.

Thanks for listening!

Hi,

I love your podcast, especially with the coffeehouse music in the background. I have to ask, what coffeehouse are you at? I used to live in Seattle...

Another favorite book that explores the seasons is The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton.

Be well, Kara

I know what you mean. I love text sets especially when they are multi-modal. Another great addition is Autumnblings by Douglas Florian. Do you know that one?

Vivian,

Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed the show and I hope you are able to find a copy of the book to share with your little scientist.

One thing I love about children's books is how one book always leads to another and another in a humungous web of books. When we started JOMB, I was hoping to link to "related" books for each review and then I realized I just couldn't limit my related books to a reasonable size so for now I have given up.

However, I can't help mentioning here another great book about seaons: "Sky Tree" by Thomas Locker -- a beautiful invitation "..to experience the life of a tree in its relationship to the sky..". (Which reminds me of "A Busy Year" by Leo Lionni...)

That's why I can't start linking books.

Happy Autumn,
Andrea

Great show...what I loved about this episode is how through your conversation you actually put on offer different yet similar perspectives/responses to the text.

I think my little guy will really enjoy the book. I'll have to buy one for him. He just turned three and he is trying to figure out this whole changing seasons idea. While driving around the other day he said "We're in Spring now. It's not autumn". I asked him why he said that and his response was "It's raining." I had to explain that it rains in the other seasons also...ahh...children...what joy.

Thanks you two.
