Wow what a great book for children to get to learn and understand war. I like how it mentions the different landmarks and ways in which Canadians deal with war. I think this helps children to realize that war impacts everyone.
Thanks for another great summary.

Thank you for covering A Poppy is to Remember. As Book illustrator and artists we appreciate and know how important the positive feedback is for author Heather Patterson and illustrator Ron Lightburn. Your Podcast is a perfect way to share a Rememberance Day moment and the discussion of the book and its attributes.
Ron Lightburn is our close personal friend. We know he is delighted to hear on this fabulous Podcast how his subtle choices in his evocative paintings and drawings stir a deep emotion in the reader. Lightburn's gentle treatment softens the sights, sounds and impact of war but the young reader will learn through family history and discussion that their great grandparents dealt with war's great sacrifices. Children have had so little access to this subject within the picture book realm. Thank you for reinforcing the power of this book. Rememberance Day will have a deeper meaning to all children and adults who read and cherish this book.
