A baby swan, or cygnet, is not remarkable to look at though it will grow and be nurtured into a beautiful bird that we know as a swan. That image is the concept behind Red Cygnet Press, a publishing company that searches for and helps first-time children’s book authors have their work published.

I worked with Bruce Glassman and his parents for a time at Blackbirch Press in the 1990s, before it was purchased by Gale, and I can assure you that if ANYONE can make a small, independent publishing company a success, it’s Bruce. He’s thorough and extremely well prepared for this venture. I’m happy to see you take this leap of faith, Bruce, instead of staying with the security of a big publisher. Congratulations! I’m predjudiced. Bruce is my son-in-law. But I can say that there aren’t all that many really good right brain/left brain people and Bruce is one of the best I’ve seen. Not only is he personally creative — and thus well able to recognize and reward creativity in others — but he’s a successful business person as well. Red Cygnet Press is, and should continue to be a successful enterprise that will be most interesting to watch as it moves forward.

This is a remarkable company, led by one of the true visionaries in publishing today. Glassman has succeeded in everthing he has touched in this industry, and Red Cygnet will surely be no exception.
