They say comparison is the source of all suffering. Yet, while we can usually resist comparing one child to another, most of us are guilty of the occasional contrast between our children and our former — possibly imagined — selves. This hilarious and delightfully ambiguous book allows us to chew on and chuckle at this perennial parental ploy.
I’d always thought the children’s book publishing industry demanded its community to be based in obvious big cities like New York, Toronto and London so it’s exciting to find out that there are amazing children’s book authors and illustrators living in and around Ottawa, Canada, the hometown of Just One More Book!. In fact, locals including Rachna Gilmore, Ben Hodson and Andree Poulin have all been guests of our show.
Two weeks ago we met another homegrown talent when we were joined for our coffee and recording routine by illustrator Christine Tripp. On this edition of Just One More Book! Ms. Tripp talks about how technology has made it possible for her to work in Ottawa, working with Art Directors and some of the taboos in children’s book illustrations.
Auction 2 will begin accepting bids on Monday, November 26th, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. with a starting bid of $50 for each snowflake. All bids must be placed before the close of Auction 2 on Friday, Nov. 30 at 5:00 pm. Remember that 100% of the proceeds from this online auction will benefit sarcoma research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and that all but $25 of the winning bid is tax deductible.
