I’ll definitely be looking out for this one.

For twenty years I was a teacher-librarian in Tucson, Az when I met Toni Buzzeo in 2003 at a national convention of School Librarians and shared the story behind “Our Librarian Won’t Tell Us Anything”, then two years went by and I reminded her about my story in 2005 and the rest so they say is “history”!

Yes, we are a lot alike; I went streaming down the hallways catching student’s attention; held lots of competitions; created a scavenger hunt orientation yearly, and most importantly challenged the students daily with questions to help them with their thinking about information! I just love Shachiko Yoshikawa’s [illustrator] renditions of me…and she didn’t even know me, but definitely captured my essence!

The gal in the pod cast was so correct about my setting the bar too high for other teacher-librarians to aspire toward, but, it needs to be there! Students today need to understand the joy that reading and research can bring, and I felt that it was my duty to challenge them…both students, teachers and fellow Teacher-Librarians! It’s just little old me, that crazy Mrs. Skorupski!
